Well another year has passed. If you missed the 2010 Nacho Ride kickoff last night then you probably also missed the ‘greeters’ at the MoPac 84th Street trailhead, Phil “Cub-Wolfe” was doing the greeting accompanied by Lance Schwartz of “Lance’s Journal” (Channel 10/11). Lance was observed videotaping some of the Nacho-er’s along the trail and also taking some photo’s of the OEDS Nacho’s. He was also interviewing Dangerous Dan who is now a well known celebrity. Lance’s Journal should be aired on the 6:00 news Wednesday evening. We will also post the link later when available. For additional photos of the Nacho see the NOA’s blog site http://nebraskaoutdooraddict.blogspot.com/2010/05/3rd-anniversary-nacho-ride.html
One Eyed Dog Saloon Update (OEDS)
A few notes about the staff at the OEDS. There are some new faces and also some old(er) faces at the OEDS. Most of you know that Sheriff Robin has defected and is now working for Scotland Yard. Since the Nacho-er’s cannot be without a Sheriff a ‘back room’ election was held and Sheriff August is now taken over this command position and responsible for maintaining order and settling disputes. Last night you probably noted the Sheriff was still manning the bar, delivering your orders and taking your cash. Dangerous Dan is still minding the store and doing all of the various things you may have seen for the past couple of years. (That is when he is not busy doing the ‘interviews’ for Channel 10-11). The Nacho riders would like to welcome ‘Lindsey’ to the Tuesday night festivities. She was very busy last night so we didn’t have much time to chat, hopefully we will learn more about her in the coming weeks. For now and the future she shall be known as Deputy Lindsey “Star”.
You may have noticed that Dangerous Dan has a little more bounce to his step. Could that be because he has taken on a new partner? Diana was seen around the OEDS several times in 2009 but I understand that she has taken on a new role as the person in charge of DD and the OEDS. Since she has assumed all of these responsibilities it seems fitting that she be given the title of “Mrs. Commish”. DD says he’s looking forward to another Nacho year and looks forward to meeting everyone, new friends and old.
Trail Update:
It appears that the MoPac trail crew has been busy cutting trees and clearing some of the remnants of the long winter. They have applied some new gravel/rock in some of the areas. You may want to be careful and ride a little slower at the trail head in Walton. The crew has put down a heavy layer of gravel and it gets a little squirrely if you’re not expecting that challenge.
The ‘Winner’ is:
DD and Mrs. Commish of the OEDS have continued the weekly ‘gift certificate’ drawing for Nacho’ers again this year. The first lucky winner of 2010 is: Meagon Jones. Please see DD or Mrs. Commish to pick up your bike shop certificate. Thanks again DD, excuse me, Mrs. Commish for the support.
Thanks:
A big thank you to Cub-Wolfe for the 2010 Nacho Ride cake which was very fitting after battling the wind on the ride out to Eagle.
That’s all for this week, see you soon on the Nacho….. chh
