August 26th, 2008: Nacho Ride Update. PDF Print E-mail

Let the celebration begin, it appeared that Phil (Cub-Wolfe) reached his goal of 50 bikers on the Nacho Ride this evening.  He was counting several times but he was wearing a pretty big smile.

It was another great evening for a ride; the southeast wind made the trip a bit longer but the ride home was very nice.  We need some rain to settle the dust, once again everyone undoubtedly road home on a different colored bike.  The trail is in excellent shape; the NRD is still mowing and appears to have sprayed the weeds on the sides of the trail.  Great job guys.

One-Eyed Dog Saloon Update:

Desperado Dan (DD) came through for the ‘outside diners’.  DD single handedly whipped the pesky sparrows with his new tent style awnings that cover most to the picnic tables.  The only complaint heard was from the ‘pesky sparrows’ because they couldn’t torment the bikers.  With the 50 bikers and most of them outside we may have to watch for some sales on additional picnic tables.  Nice job DD.

Sheriff “Robin” was her usual smiling self.  The Sheriff has relaxed her policy and was seen and photographed carrying the ‘frosty’ mugs outside(below).  Great job Sheriff Robin and the ‘frosty’ mugs did the job on the trail dust.

Journal Star:

Many of you probably read the excellent story on the Nacho Ride in today’s (Tuesday) paper.  The riders had the opportunity to meet and great the writer of the story (and from what I’m told also an avid biker) Y ALGIS J. LAUKAITIS.  Thanks for promoting the Nacho Ride and we hope to see you in the future.  Of course we question some of the company you were riding with, and the prize for the most unusual headdress goes to (below).

The website is growing and being modified and updated as we ‘ride’.  If you have any suggestions that you would like to see please post them or let Phil (Cub-Wolfe) know.  A ‘forum’ is also being worked on so many of you may want to join in on those threads.

Official or Un-official:

Phil (Cub-Wolfe) has been talking about the last official ride being tonight.  I don’t think the trail will close and it appears that DD has the birds under control and Sheriff Robin is back serving ‘frosty’s’ so what say we continue the Tuesday Night Nacho Rides?  What could be better then having a ‘harvest moon’ on your shoulder during the ride back home in October.  Besides maybe we can set a goal of 75 riders by the end of September.  Tell your friends and let’s keep riding…..  See you next week.
