“Senator Hatch, Tell me it is not true”.

What a wonderful evening for the Nacho’ers weekly trip to the One Eyed Dog Saloon (OEDS).  The weather was absolutely great, just a bit of north wind for the ‘eastbounders’ but nothing they weren’t able to handle with ease.  The temps were great and a nice wind on our backs going back to Lincoln made for a nice round trip for the Lincoln based Nacho’ers (and Renee from Omaha).

On the way out we had the opportunity to see the Lower Platte NRD in action.  The ‘trail mower’ was just east of Walton, (see picture on this site).  The side of the trail didn’t look that bad but after seeing where the mower went it was noticeable.  I’m sure they will be knocking down some of those large weedy stalks that are trying to snare a rider.  Looking forward to seeing the results of their work next week.

OEDS:  The Tuesday Night Nacho’ers were arriving and departing the OEDS in a nice rotation.  We left at about 8:00 PM and there were some Nacho’ers still keeping the OEDS staff busy.  Sheriff Robin reports that the ‘official count’ was 45 riders.  Now this number is from counting the number of drawing tickets the Nacho’ers signed.  Of course this could be inflated if Adam “Sky” and/or the Nebraska Outdoor Addict  “NOA” signed a couple of extra tickets using the undercover names.  A note to the Nacho’ers, be sure get a ticket from Sheriff Robin or Deputy August while your at the OEDS, this is the only way you can qualify for the weekly drawing for the $25.00 gift certificate.

Some of you have read today that Senator Hatch, Judiciary Committee’s top Republican is leading efforts to have a hearing next week on the BCS.  Let me get this straight, our elected leaders have nothing better to do in July then investigate college football.  This appears to be a hearing that is held after all of the ‘important’ work is done.  If Congress is going to investigate the BCS how long before they call the Nacho Ride onto the carpet?  Maybe we should use this money to make the MoPac a concrete trail.

Jul7 7th, 2009 Nacho Ride:  We need a theme for this ride, how about “The Nacho Independence Ride”?  This would be a belated July 4th ride but what better way to celebrate.  Put on the Red White & Blue.  See you next week.

Sheriff Robin reports that the winner of the 4th OEDS $25.00 Gift Certificate is Matt Pearson.  Way to go Matt, (second week in a row for a “Matt” winner, must be something for the 13th letter).

Nacho Award Winners, be sure to ride out to the OEDS and pick up your gift certificate.  See Dangerous Dan, Sheriff Robin or Deputy August for your prize.

See you all next week for the Independence Nacho Ride.

Dangerous Dan (DD) sent a text message and advised that the results of the drawing, which was held on June 23, 2009, are in.  After many meetings and conference calls with “Punxsutawney Phil” the winner is, Matt Setzer.

This is the 3rd $25.00 Gift Certificate being awarded by the OEDS.  From the information submitted it appears that this certificate is redeemable at the Blue Bike Shop.  Matt, you will have to ride out to see DD, SR or some of the other Deputies to pick up your certificate.  See you all on Tuesday night, looks to be another great evening for a ride.
